ParkerVision, Inc. (NASDAQ:PRKR) has announced that the PTAB has ruled on the matter regarding the petitions for Inter Partes Review (“IPR”). The petition was filed by QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) against ParkerVision patents. The ruling increases the favorable ruling in favor of ParkerVision to six out ten petitions files initially. ParkerVision specializes in the development, commercialization and marketing of semiconductor technology solutions used by wireless applications.

ParkerVision was granted an early favourable decision in March 2016 after the Patent Trial and Appeal Board annulled a request by Qualcomm to challenge three of the IPR to a ParkerVision patent. Following these recent decisions by Patent Trial and Appeal Board, ParkerVision has got three additional favorable rulings in addition to one split ruling. This confirms the validity and gravity of claims from the second patent that was challenged. Qualcomm got two favorable decisions on two IPR’s. In addition, ParkerVision chose not to defend one challenge.

ParkerVision CEO Jeffrey Parker said the results of the ruling clearly indicate the company’s strength and innovativeness as well as its plans to raise value of its assets. “We are pleased that the PTAB confirmed the validity of claims from both of the patents we chose to defend,” he said.
