The CoreSite Realty Corporation (NYSE:COR) announced recently that the Windstream Holdings Inc has expanded its network Points of Presence (PoP) at CoreSite’s data center campuses located in Los Angeles and Denver. The expansion in the two markets will add the Windstream’s presence into a total of six markets including Silicon Valley, Chicago, New York, and Northern Virginia/D.C.
The new service network will enable Windstream to cover a wide area of about 150,000 miles from the coast-to-coast fiber-optic network which will effectively expand the reach to the highly populated markets including the Wilshire, which is one of the most densely interconnected data centers across the world.
The expansion brings numerous benefits to the CoreSite consumers including a direct access to a wide range of Windstream’s broad portfolio solutions such as the optical Waves, Dedicated Internet Access, MEF 2.0 Certified Carrier Ethernet, MPLS, as well as the direct connectivity to the Windstream’s countrywide transport network.
Furthermore, the Windstream’s Software Defined Networking (SDN) solution will allow the access to the dynamic cloud connectivity particularly to the core areas within the West Coast market that services a wide range of enterprises including the content delivery service providers, the e-commerce firms, international carriers, entertainment and media players, and gaming and social media podiums and much more.
The new agreement with the CoreSite will help the Windstream to compete with Zayo which has furthered its individual West Coast vision of purchasing the Electric Lightwave in 2016. The two data centers will give Windstream a strong weapon to combat Zayo for both wholesale and retail business service benefits.
The new business agreement will also enable the service provider to fully capitalize on the Western fiber network which will boost the revenues of its wholesale network services, a segment that has previously been lacking in the area. The partnership also allows Windstream to expand its presence in the region by offering high-speed and secure transport services to numerous consumers which are the core of today’s digital ecosystem of the nation as stated by the senior vice president of Windstream.
