Plug Power Inc (NASDAQ:PLUG) has expressed its interest in taking part in the tour of Europe’s first warehouse that accommodates a fleet of forklift trucks all which are a 100% powered by Plug Power’s GenDrive hydrogen fuel cells.

Those who will take part in the tour under the organization of HyLIFT-EUROPE alongside Prelocentre and Air Liquide will have a feel of the output and sustainability outcome that hydrogen-powered fuel cells have on a distribution center.

The tour which is schedule to take place in Saint-Cyr-en-Val, France is focusing on the GenDrive fuel cell-powered fleet. The fleet’s refueling is done by an indoor hydrogen dispensing system. Attendees will also interact with Philippe Giroux and Jose Luis Crespo Prelocentre Director, and General Manager for Hypulsion-Plug Power Europe respectively.

Local authorities and executives from the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCHJU) will also be in attendance. A grocery store chain that has put in so much investment into Plug Power’s GenDrive hydrogen fuel cell will be present as well.

The use of GenDrive fuel cells provides constant power to the truck at all times which in return eliminates trips to the battery room to re-energize the degraded battery. They are somewhat a replacement of the commonly known lead-acid batteries. The cells are efficient even in the worst of environments say negative 30 degrees Celsius.

Speaking about the event, Andy Marsh, CEO of Plug Power refers to it as an imperative milestone for hydrogen fuel cells. Its successful implementation is expected to inspire other companies in the region to embrace and adopt the use hydrogen fuel cells which will help in the expansion of Plug Power into the European markets. Furthermore there all is all to gain both financially and environmentally.

For a very long time, HyLIFT and FCHJU have been at the forefront in support of the development and demonstration of European-manufactured fuel-cell. Its perhaps this support that has propelled the need to have this tour.
