There will be a major change in the design of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhones in 2017. According to Jony Ive, Apple’s Chief Design Officer, these iPhones are expected to be as slim as a single glass sheet. Minor upgrades on iPhones are expected this year, but a complete overhaul in design will be done in 2017.

New models iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus expected in September

Expect subtle changes in iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus, which will be out this fall. Rumor has it that it will be similar to iPhone 6 and 6S, and that is why some people are already saying that it will be boring. It will however be slimmer and more water resistant. These new models lack the headphone jack, but the screen size will remain the same, and this is not what Apple customers are used to. IPhone users would have expected a redesign of the phone, but internal upgrades have been given more attention in these models. Apple has not changed the design of its iPhones for three consecutive years now.

It is in 2017 that things will be completely different, as far as the design of iPhones is concerned. No one knows what name Apple will give the iPhone as at now, but one thing is for sure- its design will be completely different from the previous models. This model will encapsulate Jony Ive’s love for glass, which has led him to include the world’s longest pieces of curved glass in the new Apple headquarters’ design.

How Apple will achieve its design overhaul

Apple plans to get rid of the entire bezel in the recent models and replace it with glass, so that the new iPhone’s display will stretch from one edge to the other. The new OLED display will not have the traditional home button, as it will be replaced by a new technology that will integrate fingerprint sensors into the screen. Confirming these rumors, a partner of Apple has confirmed that Apple’s iPhones will have a glass casing next year.
