Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) has announced that is has completed filming its documentary on Keith Richards, which would be officially released in less than a week. Unfortunately, the movie would initially be available to those with a Netflix account. The movie titled “Under the Influence” reflects on the legendary rock star’s life.
After seeing the trailer one is made to believe that the documentary captures not only the life of the rock star and his obsession to create music, but the development of rock and roll as well. The exciting part, however, is that the movie has been directed by none other than Morgan Neville, who has a great track record of effectively capturing the lives of musicians. One of his more recent works, “20 Feet from Stardom”, earned him an “Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature”. The movie was based on the lives of background singers and their careers. Apart from this, he has also been nominated for a number of Grammy awards.
The title, however, reflects on the public image of Richards, who is well aware of the fact that people view him as a drunk and drugged rock star. Richards, however, does state that he knows what kind of a person he is and it does not bother him how the public views him. Furthermore, the documentary is not the only exciting story in the life of Keith Richards. He is also eyeing a comeback to the stage, with the release of his solo album “Crosseyed Heart”. The documentary and the album, would both release on the same day. The album would be the first one by Richards, since 1992. This would be the first film produced by Netflix and combined with the new album, the Rolling Stones fans would have a lot to look forward to over the weekend.
