JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU) has recently released the statistics relating to passenger traffic for the month August, experienced by the company. The numbers indicated a growth of 6.7% in terms of revenue and an 8.3% growth in terms of available seat miles. Furthermore, the company also announced that it had been chosen as the official airline partner for the New England Patriots and Gillette stadium. The sponsorship would stay in place for a period of 5-years, starting from the upcoming season.
The sponsorship would entitle the fans of New England Patriots to be awarded a bonus, when flying with the airline. This includes the facility of being allowed to board early, during the period of the regular NFL season, if the fans are wearing official New England jerseys. The VP of corporate sales for the Patriots, Murray Kohl, expressed pride at being associated with Jet Blue and stated that, with the large network of destinations that Jet Blue caters to, it will help the team’s loyal fan base to keep supporting their team, while travelling.
As part of the sponsorship deal, the airline would be entitled to joint brand and marketing promotions with the team. This includes email promotions, online advertising and video boards. The new deal is likely to improve the company’s current financial position, which is already doing quite well. The recent statistics from the company revealed that the airline had $3.9 billion in revenues per miles, $0.2 billion up from the same period last year.
The airline’s load factor, however, suffered a decline of 1.3%, in year-over-year growth. Since the start of the year, the airline has reported a total of $28 billion in revenues per miles, registering a year-over-year growth of 9.2% so far. Additionally, the decline in load factor for the airline depicts a basis points year-over-year growth of 0.4.
JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU) experienced a trade volume of 8.38 million during the September 17 session, to register a spike of 1.38% and close at $27.02 at the end of the session.
